It’s the peak of holiday travel season at Phoenix Sky Harbor. This time of year brings an additional 15,000 to 25,000 travelers to the airport.
While the busy season technically began on Dec. 21, airport officials say Dec. 28 will see the most traffic.
Julie Rodriguez is with Phoenix Sky Harbor. She said it’s more than just holiday travelers coming through the airport at that time.
"So we have Christmas travelers coming and going," Rodriguez siad. "And then we have college football fans coming in and then going home after the big game."
The Cactus Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl will be bringing sports fans from around the country to the Valley. Rodriguez said air traffic typically gets lighter shortly after the new year.
