ADOT Says Winter Storm Impacting Many Arizona Roads

Snow and ice on roadways is keeping the Arizona Department of Transportation busy today. The agency says it has more than 200 plows clearing the roads.

ADOT’s Tom Herrmann says there isn’t any place across the state that hasn’t been affected by this latest winter storm.

"We’re seeing more snow on area just south of Flagstaff," Herrmann said. "Also in the Camp Verde area, not just on I-17 but also State Route 260 going east from Camp Verde, and on State Route 87 in that area north of Strawberry. Those areas have been reporting very heavy snow. But pretty much every place at a higher elevation, there’s certainly a hazard of snow, there’s certainly something to keep an eye on for drivers."

Two earlier crashes on I-40 have led to closures on the eastbound lanes at mile 48 west of Kingman and mile 74, east of U.S. 93. Ice contributed to the crash at mile 48. There is another road closure on State Route 68 just west of Laughlin.
