A new exhibit at the Heard Museum looks at the evolution of games and sports among American Indians and their participation in professional sports.
“Beautiful Games” includes 1964 Olympic 10,000-meter gold medalist Billy Mills’ shoes and track suit, pitcher Allie Reynolds’ baseball glove and memorabilia from Jim Thorpe, among many other things.
Marcus Monenerkit is the Heard’s Assistant Curator. He said he’d been kicking around the idea for this exhibit for a while, but decided to go for it when the NFL announced the Super Bowl would be coming next month.
“Beautiful Games” will be on display through the end of November. And, by way of full disclosure, the Heard is an underwriter of KJZZ.
