The cost of groceries could continue to go up in 2015 according to the Arizona Farm Bureau, but spokeswoman Julie Murphree says Arizona-grown commodities will help you cut food costs.
“Certainly our leafy greens in good supply, you should get good prices, including the fact that it’s in season for a lot of our leafy greens here in Arizona, because we grow so much of it, here in Yuma," Murphree said.
Murphree says she expects high beef prices to continue through 2015 but believes the cost of chicken will come down this year. And Murphree is not willing to write off lower costs for some foods to falling gas prices.
She says it has more to do with overproduction by U.S. farmers causing an oversupply of some foods.
