New Program Allows Drivers To Avoid Taking Written And Road Tests At MVD

New drivers in Arizona can now avoid taking their written and road tests at Motor Vehicle Division offices when applying for their licenses. The agency is waiving the requirements if applicants undergo training at state-approved driving schools.

ADOT spokesperson Ryan Harding said he hopes the move will reduce wait times at MVD offices and improve safety on the roads.

"We’re hoping to encourage new drivers to get as much professional instruction as they can until they are licensed to drive on their own," Harding said.

He added that random tests will be given to participating applicants to assess the quality of instruction that students are getting.
