Medals May Not Make It To P.F. Chang's Marathon

There may be no medals at the finish line of the P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon on Sunday. For now, medals are in shipping limbo and they and may not arrive in time.

That’s due to a backup in shipping at sea ports along the West Coast and the delay is caused by a long dispute between dockworkers and their employers.

The possible lack of finisher medals doesn’t just affect marathoners, but everyone tackling the related half-marathon, 10K, relay and Saturday 5K. That makes 22,000 participants in all.

Organizers say the medals will be mailed to racers if they don’t come in time.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon begins in downtown Phoenix and heads through Scottsdale before finishing near Mill Avenue in Tempe.
