Business Group Wants Tourists To Spend Like Locals

When droves of visitors come to Arizona for events like the Phoenix Open or the Super Bowl, Erica Pederson with Local First Arizona says it’s best when they spend local, too.

“Our research has shown that up to four times more money stays in the local economy when you shop at a local business,” Pederson said.

And the group has made it easier for tourists to find their way to those businesses with its Super Bowl Visitor's Guide on the website and a booklet they have been sharing with area hotels.

“And it kind of serves as a pocket guide for people to use and kind of check off to find the great local businesses in the area,” she said.

The guide highlights popular attractions and restaurants that some tourists might overlook.
