With the Waste Management Phoenix Open Golf Tournament and the Super Bowl here, this weekend is one of the busiest in the Valley. Some non-football related events are capitalizing on the influx of visitors.

Big beer and football go together. Beer giants Anheuser Busch and MillerCoors’ ads run during the big game, but craft breweries are becoming more popular and are looking to get in on some of the Super Bowl action in Phoenix. Bad Water Brewing, a Scottsdale brewery, is hosting the first Brewers Bowl this weekend.

It’s a competition between Arizona beers and the winner gets bragging rights and a silver trophy. Bad Water owner Lewis Kubitz proudly displays the trophy.

“On top is actually a working keg," he said. "And of course it looks like the Lombardi trophy.”

Kubitz planned the event to start after the golf tournament ends on Saturday and finish before the bars open around the corner in Old Town Scottsdale.

Just down the road next to the Scottsdale Preforming Arts Center is the Arizona Indian Festival.

Manny Wheeler with the Navajo tribe hopes to pull some in some football fans.

“That’s definitely an audience that we’d like to get our message out to,” he said.

Patriots fan from the Boston-area Pete Beaulieu is exploring the festival.

“I’m here for the Super Bowl and all the events in the area," he said. “I’ve gone to the Indian festival, I went up to Carefree. I have some friends who live down in Casa Grande.”

While the golf tournament and the Super Bowl may get most of the attention, organizers of these other two events say they purposely chose this weekend to take advantage of the crowds and maybe a little extra publicity.
