The day after Super Bowl 49 has the Arizona Host Committee all smiles. On Monday the Host Committee said NFL’s big event in the Valley was a success.
Super Bowl Host Committee members said they’re proud of the Super Bowl outcome. There were several differences between this year’s and 2008 , when the game was last held here. NFL Experience, the National League’s temporary theme park was set in Phoenix and a new fan activity and entertainment area was added.
David Rousseau is the chairman of this year’s Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee. He said collaboration was important around the Valley.
“We co-existed with a record-setting Waste Management Phoenix Open, Direct TV was out adjacent to the stadium and my sense is they were successful as well," Rousseau said. "And so it’s a great compliment to the Valley that all those platforms were able to be successful and all at the same time.”
Rousseau said in 2008 half a billion dollars was spent in the state in connection with the Super Bowl. He said those numbers could be greater this time around.
