Gas Prices Rise, After Falling For Months

The cost of gas is starting to climb again, after falling for more than one hundred days straight. Drivers should expect prices to continue to jump, but not as high as the last year.

It was easy to get used to those constantly lower prices, but now a gallon of gas will cost you an average of 7 cents more than last week in Arizona,  where it's an average of $1.98 across the state.

Michelle Donati is a spokesperson for AAA. She said the price hike was expected due to a jump in crude oil prices, as well as maintenance at refineries, which usually drives up costs in February.

"We are still projecting that prices will be below $3 per gallon for the majority of this year," she said. "So, you know, the silver lining, if you will, is that we’re starting the annual increase that we typically see start this time of year, in a much better position than we were last year."

That’s when prices averaged nearly $3.25 per gallon.
