The open enrollment period for the federal health insurance marketplace ends Sunday, Feb. 15. So far, 174,000 Arizonans enrolled since November and 119,518 of those Arizonans are from the Phoenix area and 27,089 are from Tucson.

Pati Urias is a spokeswoman for Enroll America, a nonprofit that helps people get coverage. She said the numbers of people signing up for health insurance includes people renewing coverage and those getting coverage for the first time.

“More than half of those people who are in the marketplace right now are people who are re-enrolling in the same plan they had before or if that same plan isn’t available choosing a different plan,” she said.

According to Enroll America data, consumers are twice as likely to successfully complete the sign up process as those who try to enroll without help. Navigators will have extended hours this week to get as many people enrolled as possible.
