The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has completed a DNA test on the gray wolf killed in Utah in December. The results conclude it was the same wolf spotted in the Grand Canyon last year.
The analysis was performed using the scat collected from the Grand Canyon wolf.
The gray wolf in southern Utah is endangered and protected under the endangered species act.
According to Utah wildlife officials the hunter who shot the animal mistook it for a coyote.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
