What Effect Medicaid Reimbursement Cuts May Have On Patient Treatment

In his budget plan released last month, Governor Doug Ducey proposed cutting the reimbursement rate for the state’s Medicaid program, known as AHCCCS, by 3 percent.

Some physicians and physicians group say that could lead to fewer doctors treating Medicaid patients.

I asked Pete Wertheim, executive director of the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association, what he thought when he found out about the proposed cut.

For another perspective, we turn to Doctor Ruth Letizia, the owner of Sonoran Sky Pediatrics in East Mesa. She opened her practice in 2008 and has about 7,000 patients, roughly half of whom are on AHCCCS.
