Arizona’s lawmakers have gotten used to staring at enormous budget deficits. There was a short respite, but now they’re trying to figure out ways of dealing with a half-billion dollar hole.
Earlier this week, Republican Senators and Representatives advanced a bill that would adjust the state’s tax brackets every year to account for inflation. Democrats argue that hurt revenues at a time the state could use all the funds it can get.
We spoke with Stephen Slivinski and Scott Beaulier of the Center for the Study of Economic Liberty at Arizona State University about dealing with cutting taxes and spending in tough budget times.
