Flagstaff On Track To See Warmest February On Record

Warmer-than-normal temperatures have been dominating the weather forecasts this month. The city of Flagstaff is on track to experience its warmest February on record.

So far this month, officials have seen a record 13 days where temperatures have broken the 60-degree mark in Flagstaff. Typically, conditions there hover around 45 degrees.

Dan LeBlanc is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. He adds snowpack levels in areas above 9,000 feet are down significantly.

"It looks like the water that is stored in the snowpack around the San Francisco peaks," said LeBlanc. "They’re estimating it's only about 60 percent of what is normal for this time of year."

With just about a week left in the month LeBlanc says there’s a good chance February will retain its record title.
