A new trail for off-roading vehicles is in the process of being designed. The Arizona Peace Trail, if approved, would span across Yuma, La Paz and Mohave counties.
The Arizona Peace Trail would connect different existing trails together to make one 700-mile loop. The route would take riders past points of interest in western Arizona.
The Arizona Peace Trail Committee is in the process of making this trail happen with the help of state, county and city representatives.
JC Sanders is a member of the Peace Trail Committee. He said planners have gotten advice from law enforcement.
"As to what we need to be aware of and what we need to advertise as far as what’s legal and what’s not legal. The trail system, the entire loop would require a street-legal vehicle," Sanders said.
Sanders said the committee is also working to avoid any environmental issues with the creation of the trail. Sanders said it will be three to five years until the trail is ready for traffic.
