Maricopa Alliance For Shelter And Housing Demands Improvements For Phoenix Homeless Shelter

A group calling itself the Maricopa Alliance for Shelter and Housing, or MASH, has outlined a series of demands for improvements at Central Arizona Shelter Services, or CASS.

MASH wants changes made in the men’s overflow shelter and adjacent east lot and it wants some of them by Monday. Amy McMullen is a Board Member and Clinic Director for Phoenix Allies for Community Health and Co-founder of MASH.

CASS plans to close the men’s overflow shelter on April 1. McMullen said she’ll be at the east lot on Monday evening, to see if the improvements MASH is demanding are made. Mark Holleran is the CEO of CASS.

The Director of Maricopa County’s Human Services Department said the sides have been talking, but have not yet reached a resolution.
