Arizona Office Of Tourism Encourages Spring Training Visitors To Explore The Rest Of The State

Spring training baseball has started and the Arizona Office of Tourism wants visitors in town for games to explore more of the state.

That’s part of an electronic billboard campaign that shows images of some of state’s iconic places, with the website SpringTraining.com conspicuously displayed along the bottom.

Sherry Henry, director of the Arizona Office of Tourism, said it’s a two-phase strategy. She said the goal is to get tourists who are coming specifically to enjoy games to stick around for even one extra day.

Henry said 1.7 million people attended Spring Training games in Arizona in 2014. And if the weather cooperates, that number is expected to grow this year.
