The flooding of Pine Creek near Payson prompted the closure of popular trails at
Sue Black, executive director of the Arizona State Parks, said while the flooding prevented hikers from getting to the bridge, it has left behind beautiful sights.
“The water that flows through the bridge there, it is gorgeous and I think that’s what people go to see. But, sometimes the water level just gets high and then it makes that bridge, you just can’t get across it,” Black said. “But the good news is, now the water has subsided and now it’s absolutely beautiful.”
Black said they often close trails after heavy rain or snowfall when it could affect visitor safety.
