The Glendale City Council has rejected a proposed sale of the Foothills Branch Library.
Glendale considered an offer from Midwestern University to buy the library for $5 million dollars.
The city would have moved part of the library's collection to the nearby Foothills Recreation and Aquatics Center and developed new technology there for library users.
The city introduced the library proposal six weeks ago and held six public meetings that revealed nearly unanimous public opposition to selling the library.
