Last month, Governor Doug Ducey named Colonel Frank Milstead to be the new director of the state Department of Public Safety. Milstead’s father, Ralph, was DPS director in the 1980s.
Milstead had been the city of Mesa’s police chief. Before that, he served 25 years in the Phoenix Police Department.
We talked with Milstead about the use of technology in law enforcement and why the Valley is having so many problems with wrong-way drivers.
