Mosquito Fogging Happening Earlier Than Normal This Year

The wet winter and residual standing water have created the perfect breading ground for mosquitoes prompting an earlier than normal need to fog.

With more than 370 complaints received, Johnny Diloné with the Maricopa County Environmental Services Department, said workers will be in Tempe and Tolleson neighborhoods Thursday and Friday morning.

“We monitor the activity there, and treat as needed, in order to prevent mosquitoes from breeding. Trying to deal with the problem before it comes an issue.” Diloné said.

The fogging also aids in the prevention of West Nile Virus cases. People with respiratory issues should take precautions in the areas of fogging.
