The Phoenix Art Museum got a big gift from former Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig and his wife Suzanne. They gave $2.5 million to the institution.
Museum Director Amada Cruz said the money will be used to hire a new chief curator.
“I’ve been describing it as Chief Artistic Officer and that’s really what the chief curator’s job is," Cruz said. " To oversee exhibitions programs, oversee the collections and acquisitions and work of art. They are really looking at all aspects of our art programming.”
The museum hasn’t had its own chief curator since 2002. Cruz said she is starting the search right away.
