Spring weather is conducive for bees to swarm as they look for a new place to create their hive. As the bees make a new home, they have also prompted calls for their removal.
Johnny Diloné from the Maricopa County Environmental Services Department said that while seeing a swarm might be unnerving, hold off calling to complain.
“If it’s swarm, what we tell the folks that call us is that if they just see it one day, these seem to move on the next day,” Diloné said. “So, if they see a swarm they should wait at least a day.”
Diloné said the removal of bees is the responsibility of the homeowner. The number of calls to his office are lower compared to last year, he said.
