2 Arizona Bills Would Make It Harder For Neighborhoods To Block Liquor Stores

The Arizona Legislature is pushing two bills that would make it harder for residents to prevent stores that sell liquor from moving into their neighborhood.

One bill would allow convenience stores that meet certain requirements to sell alcohol within 300 feet of a church or school. That measure is awaiting a formal vote.

The second bill would increase the number of residents needed to request a hearing to protest a liquor license application. That proposal passed the House and is now in the Senate.
