2 Roads In Arizona’s White Mountains Set To Reopen

Two highways in Arizona’s White Mountains are about to reopen after being closed for the winter.

State Route 261 between Eager and Big Lake will reopen Wednesday and so will State Route 273 between Sunrise Park and Big Lake.

That’s the plan, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. But the department said it doesn't yet know when State Route 473 between State Route 260 and Hawley Lake will open again.

The department says that highway will remain closed for now while the White Mountain Apache Tribe works on the Hawley Lake dam.

The White Mountains are northeast of Phoenix and are popular destinations for camping, fishing and other outdoors activities.
