A winery in Florence has temporarily lost its food permit after a salmonella outbreak at a wedding last month. The investigation is ongoing.
Pinal County’s Health Services District suspended the Windmill Winery’s permit after the outbreak was linked to a March 19 wedding.
The district received a call from a ceremony participant who said at least four guests needed to be hospitalized. Authorities said at least 22 attendees reported feeling sick.
Health officials found the Windmill’s operators had exceeded their legally allowable level of food preparation and used a non-permitted caterer.
Several potential sources of the salmonella have been found, but officials say it will take at least several more days to determine the cause.
