Arizona Nonprofit To Stop Medicaid-Funded Mental Health Service In S. New Mexico

A second Arizona-based nonprofit has confirmed it will stop providing Medicaid-funded mental health service in southern New Mexico.

Tucson-based La Frontera said it plans a staggered transition to phase out operations in Don-ya Ana County and several others in southwestern New Mexico.

The company had indicated in February it would provide a 90-day notice to withdraw from New Mexico according to the Las Cruces Sun-News.

CEO Dan Ranieri said recent talks did not change.

Turquoise Health and Wellness had earlier announced a pullout. It was offering mental health services to Medicaid patients in Carlsbad and other southeast New Mexico locations.

The two companies were brought in to replace other providers who were terminated under a 2013 reorganization of mental health services triggered by the administration of New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez.
