The town of Gilbert has been upgraded to Aaa credit rating from Moody’s Investors Service.
Dawn Buckland, director of the Office of Budget and Management for the city of Gilbert, said the rating is evidence of the town’s achievements.
“It’s a reflection of our biomedical health industries, our M.D. Anderson Cancer Center , Heliae, which is an algae-research facility, as well as Orbital ATK, which produces satellites here in Gilbert,” Buckland said.
Going forward, she said the rating will help them get the lowest possible interest rates on large capitol projects, saving taxpayer money down the line.
Gilbert joins three other Arizona municipalities with an Aaa rating: Scottsdale , Paradise Valley and Chandler .
