Coyote Chases Golfers At Talking Stick Golf Club In Scottsdale

Let’s face it — we all have to deal with pesky intruders from time to time right here in Phoenix or in the fictitious town of Pawnee, Ind., on NBC’s Parks and Recreation. On that show, they deal with a possum who lives near the sixth hole of the public golf course.

It turns out that Phoenix’s Fairway Frank is not a possum but a coyote that hangs out at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale. The coyote approached a group of women golfing and when they tried to drive away in their golf cart, it ran after them.

So what’d they do? We asked golfer Amy Kircos.

"We were looking for what could deter him, and we had some sandwiches on our cart. So we took a quarter of a sandwich and threw it off — not in the bushes but towards the bushes, hoping that he will focus on the sandwich and not us anymore," Kircos said.

And it worked! Kircos guesses that she wasn’t the first to feed the crafty coyote. We’re still waiting for comment from the beast himself, but inside sources say he prefers roast beef — hold the horseradish.
