Arizona Board Of Regents Considers New Tuition Rate For DREAMers

The Arizona Board of Regents will consider today a new tuition rate for some students brought to the United States without documentation. The change would decrease what they are paying now.

The proposal targets young undocumented immigrants who graduated from Arizona high schools. It would set tuition at the state's universities at 150 percent of what in-state students pay.

These students, known as DREAMers, are now paying tuition at the out-of-state rate.

The board is also expected to vote on final tuition and fee proposals from the state's three universities. In light of the $100 million in state funding cuts, each of the schools has asked for an increase in either tuition or fees.
