Luke Air Force Base Plans Night Training Flights Through May

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Residents in some parts of the Phoenix area can expect to see and hear more-than-usual military flight activity through May.

Luke Air Force Base said it'll be conducting night flight operations with F-16 and F-35 jets on most weekday nights throughout the Month, with the exception of Memorial Day, May 25.

The base said it reserves the right to fly around the clock as needed but that it tries to minimize late-night flights that might disturb areas around the base located in Glendale.

However, Luke said some nighttime flight training is vital for student pilots so they can safely perform combat missions.
