ASH FORK, Ariz. — Drivers on Interstate 40 near Ash Fork will have to make a short detour Monday.
State Department of Transportation crews will be cleaning up the shoulders of the roadway after last month's 100-gallon diesel fuel spill. They'll also be excavating dirt.
Westbound traffic will be routed through Ash Fork between 9 a.m. and noon. Eastbound traffic will have to exit briefly and get back on the interstate between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
A semi-truck caught fire on April 20, spilling diesel fuel and forcing a closure of the interstate.
Crews will have to return at a later date to repair asphalt that was damaged by the fire. Transportation spokesman Dustin Krugel says it doesn't currently present any safety hazards to motorists.
