Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey is promoting one of his top staffers to be his office's top budget officer.
Ducey named Lorenzo Romero to head the Governor's Office of Strategic Planning & Budgeting on Monday.
Romero has been on the governor's staff as a senior adviser on tax, business and regulatory policy since Ducey took office in January. Ducey credited his advice with helping him be successful during the legislative session.
Romero previously directed fiscal policy for House Republicans and worked as a consultant and auditor in the private sector.
He replaces former Gov. Jan Brewer's budget director, who stayed on to help in Ducey's first months in office. John Arnold is now with the Arizona Board of Regents.
