Tonight the Peoria Unified School District board will vote whether to increase an override to give the school district more money. This comes shortly after the district chose to make budget cuts instead of moving to a four-day school week.

Earlier this month, the district cut $2.8 million from next school year's budget. The override would increase the existing 10 percent maintenance and operations override to 13 percent.

This would add about $4 a month to property taxes on an average home in Peoria valued at about $135,000. This money would go toward attracting and retaining teachers and implementing an all-day kindergarten program.
