University Of Arizona Frat Shut Down Over Hazing Violations

TUCSON, Ariz. — Another fraternity at the University of Arizona has been shut down over hazing violations.

School officials announced Wednesday that effective immediately, the Theta Chi chapter must cease all activity on the Tucson campus.

The frat can reapply for university recognition in the fall of 2019.

School officials said an investigation shows Theta Chi introduced a paddling ritual during 2011 hazing and new fraternity members were subjected to it last fall.

In March, the school shut down Delta Sigma Phi through May 2018.

The UA Dean of Students Office said an investigation it conducted found Delta Sigma Phi chapter members engaged in hazing and also provided alcohol to minors.

The violations reportedly occurred last year while the fraternity was under probation and a suspension that prohibited events with alcohol.
