Kingman's historic downtown post office is no longer on the verge of closing.
The Kingman Daily Miner reported Sunday that owner Craig Graves said U.S. Postal Service officials told him he was free to rent out post office boxes again.
The U.S. Postal Service initially slated the facility to close at the end of 2014.
Graves said the facility will get a new contract for an indefinite period. He said he is also taking a pay cut as part of the deal.
Peter Hass, a spokesman for the Postal Service's Phoenix office, said he was unaware of any contract agreement.
Graves said he expects to receive the written contract soon and already gave a key to a new box to Kingman Mayor Richard Anderson.
