New Mexico's attorney general and a district attorney will prosecute two officers who reportedly beat a man detained at the Las Cruces Police Department.

New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas and District Attorney Mark D'Antonio, who serves the southern county of Dona Ana, announced their plans Tuesday after reviewing an investigation by the state police regarding an arrest last year.

Ross Flynn, 47, was arrested Dec. 23, 2014, on suspicion of multiple charges of aggravated assault. In a surveillance video, Flynn can be seen kicking the door to his holding cell.

Shortly after, the video shows two officers enter the cell and throw him against the wall then wrestle with him on the floor.

Flynn was hospitalized and suffered a fractured skull and brain hemorrhage. among other injuries.

In February, Flynn filed suit against the city of Las Cruces for $12.5 million.

According to news reports, Richard Garcia and Danny Salcido, the officers who are accused of beating Flynn, were fired Friday after an internal investigation by the police department.
