Andrew Pulsipher, who is HIV positive, attracted worldwide attention earlier this month when he posted a photo featuring himself, his wife and their three kids.

When HIV first began making news to most Americans, assumptions were made about who acquired the virus and how long those people could live. And could they have families or would the virus be passed along in a way that made it simply too risky to even try?

Valley resident Andrew Pulsipher, who is HIV positive, attracted worldwide attention earlier this month when he posted a photo featuring himself, his wife and their three kids. Each of them held up a piece of paper. Andrew's read “HIV +” while the papers the rest of his family held read “HIV –.”

We talked with Andrew Pulsipher about his life and the impact of the photo.
