PHOENIX, Ariz.— The state agency that oversees builders in Arizona is retrenching.
The Registrar of Contractors has announced that it is closing offices in several outlying parts of the state.
The agency says technology changes and other efficiency advances are allowing it to close offices in Kingman, Show Low, Yuma and Prescott by the end of June, while eliminating five customer service positions in those communities plus Tucson and Flagstaff.
According to the agency, its investigators in Yavapai County will have work stations in Flagstaff while investigators in other outlying communities where offices are being closed will have so-called "virtual office" operations.
