Phoenix is suing the Federal Aviation Administration because of problems caused by flight-path changes.
The FAA changed routes last September as part of a nationwide update. Those changes have caused significant noise complaints in central phoenix.
"At this point we have tried every administrative process that we can. And tried to hold every discussion that we could to talk about it to no avail. And at this point we are left unfortunately with no choice," said Deborah Ostreicher, a Phoenix spokeswoman.
The city was part of a working group to try and work with the FAA to find a solution. The agency rejected 11 of the 14 alternative routes the Phoenix representatives proposed.
The agency also said it won’t entertain flight path adjustments just to mitigate noise.
The city will officially file the lawsuit Tuesday.
