Scottsdale City Manager Hospitalized After Medical Incident

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.  — Authorities say Scottsdale's city manager is hospitalized after collapsing at a City Council meeting.

A Scottsdale Fire Department spokesman said Fritz Behring was taken to a hospital after suffering "an unknown medical incident" at City Hall about 6 p.m. Tuesday.

There's no immediate word on Behring's condition or details of his medical incident that halted the council meeting.

Behring was hired as Scottsdale's city manager in May 2013.

He went on medical leave last August for about a month following complications from an undisclosed surgery.

Before coming to Scottsdale, Behring had been Pinal County's city manager since November 2010.

He has more than 20 years of experience in government administration and previously managed cities in Nebraska and Florida before becoming county manager of Clay County, Florida in 2005.
