SCOTTSDALE — Scottsdale City Manager Fritz Behring is recovering at a hospital after collapsing at a City Council meeting.
City officials said Behring suffered a medical incident Tuesday night related to surgery he had last year.
They said Behring's prognosis is good and his hospital stay is expected to be short and he plans to return to work in the near future.
Behring was hired as Scottsdale's city manager in May 2013.
He went on medical leave last August for about a month following complications from an undisclosed surgery.
Before coming to Scottsdale, Behring had been Pinal County's city manager since November 2010.
He has more than 20 years of experience in government administration and previously managed cities in Nebraska and Florida before becoming county manager of Clay County, Florida in 2005.
