The CREATE Makerspace at Heritage Square in Phoenix.

The Arizona Science Center is working to turn part of the old Phoenix Museum of History right next door into a new state-of-the-art maker space.

When it’s finished this fall, the 6,500-square-foot space called Create will allow visitors to work with all sorts of tools and equipment — as well as other like-minded people — on lots of different projects.

To get a sense of what the new space is all about, we talked to Steven Weiner, program director for Create at Arizona Science Center.

We spoke in a big open room, while construction workers continued getting the space ready.
