Temperatures To Heat Up This Week In Southwestern Arizona

An intense heat wave is expected to sweep through portions of southwestern and south-central Arizona this week.

The National Weather Service in Phoenix said an excessive heat watch will be in effect Tuesday through Friday for those areas as well as southeastern California.

Meteorologists expect these areas to draw high afternoon temperatures between 110 and 115 degrees.

Overnight low temperatures are expected to only go down as far as the low to mid-80s.

The National Weather Service is advising people to take precautions such as drinking even when they are not thirsty, avoiding strenuous activity and staying in air-conditioned areas.

Also, people should check on the elderly, infants and pets.
