Winner Of $188.9 Million Powerball Ticket In Arizona Claims Prize

PHOENIX — Arizona Lottery officials said the winner of the $188.9 million Powerball jackpot has come forward to claim the prize from the June 3 drawing.

The winner didn't want to be identified and lottery officials didn't release any details on the person's gender, age or hometown Tuesday.

State lawmakers overwhelmingly approved a bill earlier this year that shields lottery winners' identities for 90 days after they claim their prizes, but the new law doesn't take effect until July 3.

It also remains unknown if the winner took the lump sum of nearly $120 million before taxes or annual payments.

The winner had 180 days from the date of the drawing in the multi-state lottery game to come forward before the money would go into an unclaimed prize fund.
