Arizona Ranks 12th In U.S For Deaths From Injury

Arizona ranks 12th in the country in terms of the most deaths from injury — almost 73.5 deaths per 100,000 residents. The national rate is just less than 58.5 per 100,000 residents.

A new report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Trust for America’s Health looked at whether states have implemented 10 indicators of injury prevention — including primary seat-belt laws, prescription drug monitoring and required helmet use for bike riders. Arizona has four of the 10 in place.

For more on the study and what it found, we turn to Rich Hamburg, deputy director of Trust for America’s Health.
