Senator Jeff Flake said he plans to donate money his campaign received from Earl Holt, the leader of a Missouri-based white supremacist group.

Holt is the leader of the Council of Conservative Citizens, the group cited by Charleston, S.C. church murder suspect Dylann Roof in an online manifesto.

Monday’s action by Arizona’s junior senator comes after an investigation by The Guardian newspaper in the U.K. revealed Holt donated $65,000 to several Republican campaign funds.

In a statement, Flake’s press secretary reported the senator’s campaign received $1,000 from Holt in 2012. He said Flake plans to give that money to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund, which was set up to help the families of the nine victims of last week’s shooting.
