Some lawmakers in South Carolina called for the Confederate flag to be removed from the state capitol in the wake of last week’s shooting deaths of nine black church members.
Monday, Walmart announced it would stop selling the flag and some other large retailers followed suit. Amazon, Sears, eBay, Etsy and Spencer Gifts have all banned the sale of the Confederate flags and merchandise with the symbol.
Kerry King is co-owner of All the Kings Flags store in central Phoenix. He carries multiple flags from the Civil War era and said Tuesday he planned to continued selling the Confederate flag.
“I’m not happy when I think it’s going to be displayed for some of the reasons my customers want to display it for," he said. "But on the other hand, it’s not for me to be a moral judge.”
In the last week, the store had sold five confederate flags and they normally sell about eight a year. They had ordered more, but suppliers were having a hard time keeping up with recent demand.
On Thursday, the All the Kings Flags said it's no longer selling the flag because its suppliers have stopped carrying them.
