Arizona’s Motor Vehicle Division is making progress after getting some poor performance grades in a state audit.
Shan Hays of the Auditor General’s Office said MVD was cited for failing to properly supervise the ignition interlock program, it’s oversight of third-party authorization offices and counter service at field offices.
“There was some offices that provided quick service that was courteous and very good service and at other times or at other offices we found, we found longer wait times and service that wasn’t as high quality,” said Hays.
Hays said MVD responded well to the auditor’s recommendations.
A spokesman for the Department of Transportation makes no excuses for MVD’s poor performance grades. ADOT said it was in general agreement with the findings of the report and is continues to work on ways to improve customer service.
